Set Up a Pirate Treasure Hunt With Nerf Blasters
Setting up a pirate treasure hunt with Nerf blasters offers an adventurous twist to traditional play. Kids can scatter treasures and strategically hide them while using their Nerf weapons to “battle” to reach the prize. This setup encourages teamwork as players create strategies for spawning in different locations and spark their imagination, turning a backyard into a lively scene of pirate excitement.
Zombie Apocalypse Challenge for Team Play
Organizing a zombie apocalypse challenge is an exhilarating way to engage kids in Nerf wars. Players can team up to complete missions, like rescuing “survivors” or gathering supplies while fending off “zombies” with their Nerf blasters. This scenario promotes cooperation and strategy and fuels creativity as children immerse themselves in a thrilling storyline that turns their environment into a battleground for survival.
Humans vs zombies
One or two kids start off as zombies. They have no blasters and must tag the others to make them into zombies as well. When a zombie gets hit, they have to stand still and cannot tag anyone for a few seconds. Then, after that, they have that many seconds of immunity. When you become a zombie, you walk to a specific spot, put down your blaster, and join the zombie team.
Organize a Capture the Flag Event With Fun Objectives
Organizing a capture-the-flag event adds a thrilling dynamic to any Nerf war. Kids can split into teams and designate boundaries to create excitement. By setting fun objectives, like completing challenges to earn special power-ups or bonuses, players can enhance their experience and develop strategic thinking as they aim to outsmart their opponents while protecting their flag.
Build an Obstacle Course for Tactical Nerf Missions
Building an obstacle course for tactical Nerf missions can add an exciting challenge to any game. Kids can create their own course using various backyard items, such as cones, chairs, and boxes, to serve as cover or obstacles. This engages their creativity and encourages teamwork as they strategize on how to navigate the course while avoiding imaginary enemy fire.
High five
A team-based game where if you get hit, you sit and hold your hand up. After a few seconds, a teammate can give you a high five to revive you. This can also be played as a "kill confirmed" game if your kids want higher stakes.
Team Death Match
Get two tally counters (or two phones with a tally app). Place one at each spawn point. Set a 5-10 min timer. The teams just blast each other. If they are tagged, they raise a hand, go back to the spawn, and click the tally counter. If they can make it to the other team's tally spawn, they can give the opposing team's tally counter 10 clicks. After time runs out, the team with the fewest clicks wins.
Token
Give each kid 3 tokens (we use poker chips). When you get hit, you set a token on the ground. Then the other team gets a point if they can snag the token. (Basically, nerf kill confirmed.) If you run out of tokens, you can't respawn. But team members can share tokens. Set a short time limit, like 10 minutes. The team with the most tokens wins.
Rambo
A game type where one person gets a higher-powered blaster and everyone else gets the worst possible types of blasters, preferably single-loaded, and tries to tag out the chosen Rambo. Can be a small team with better blasters against a large team with worse. The goal for the Rambo is to make it from point A to point B, which are usually on opposite sides of the play area, without being tagged. The Rambo cannot be tagged whenever they are at or around point A, as long as they are there. If they so choose, they can tag everyone else out from point A and still win because they can't be tagged out from that position. There is only one life for everyone, including Rambo. There's no need for a time limit, but you can choose to have one.
